The TAG Heuer Connected Calibre E4 Malbon Golf Edition is a sports smartwatch shaped by golf culture rather than a mechanical watch with a decorative theme. Released in 2024, the collaboration combines TAG Heuer’s 45 mm Connected platform with the bright green, yellow and cream palette associated with Malbon Golf. Its purpose is practical as well as visual: the watch runs TAG Heuer’s golf software while the bezel, pushers, strap and supplied accessories distinguish it from the regular Connected Golf Edition.

A collaboration built around golf
Malbon has approached golf as both a sport and a lifestyle, which explains why this edition is less formal than many Swiss collaborations. The black grade 2 titanium case is sandblasted and DLC coated, creating a subdued frame for a bezel marked with eighteen holes. Green and yellow pushers echo the colours of the bi-material leather and rubber strap. An exclusive animated watch face features the Malbon bucket character, but the edition remains recognisable even when another digital face is selected.

Case, screen and daily wear
The case measures 45 mm and is deliberately substantial. Its dark finish reduces the apparent size from a distance, although thickness and long sessions on the wrist still matter. The sapphire screen needs to sit cleanly within the ceramic bezel, and the crown and pushers should respond without looseness. TAG Heuer rates the genuine model to 50 metres, but any alternative should be pressure tested before water exposure. A printed resistance claim or sealed-looking case back is not a test result.
Golf functions are the real complication
With TAG Heuer Golf, the watch can display course mapping, distances to hazards and greens, club recommendations and scoring functions. Some features depend on a paired phone, account, GPS reception and current software support. That makes this product different from a mechanical reference whose behaviour remains fixed. Before choosing a used or alternative version, check operating-system compatibility, battery condition, charger type and whether the golf application can still be installed and updated in the UK.
Edition details to compare
Reference SBR8A85.EB0338 should combine the black titanium case, ceramic eighteen-hole bezel, coloured pushers and green and lime strap. Check the buckle finish, quick-release strap fittings and the graphics shown during startup. Packaging and accessories may add interest, but they do not compensate for unsupported software or a degraded battery. The case back and system information should identify the correct hardware generation rather than merely displaying a Malbon image.
Mechanical expectations do not apply
The Connected Calibre E4 is an electronic device. Its display, sensors, processor and battery determine the experience, so movement decoration and sweeping seconds are not relevant measures. Conversely, a conventional fashion smartwatch in a similar case cannot reproduce the TAG Heuer interface or golf ecosystem. Compare function first, then materials and colour. That order prevents the collaboration’s playful styling from hiding the practical questions that decide whether the watch remains usable.
